Buffalo Chicken Dip
Buffalo Chicken Dip has been a staple in the Bates house hold. For as long as Matt and I have been together, the Bates family has been enjoying it. This dish was originally something that Matt’s Aunt would make for special occasions including Super Bowl. Matt now has started making Buffalo Chicken Dip himself, for sporting events such as Super Bowl.
This recipe is actually naturally gluten free which is our preferred way to eat. We have some recipes on the blog that require gluten free processed products, but we truly do love to eat whole foods in their natural form. This chicken buffalo dip is also so so so simple to make and is a real crowd pleaser. Over the years we have had many friends rave about this recipe. Some have even asked for the recipe.
Gluten Free Chicken
It is kind of just a coincidence that this recipe is naturally gluten free, and that we haven’t had to change anything about it since my celiac diagnosis. There are 2 ways you can go about the shredded chicken. You can purchase chicken breast, cook it and then shred it yourself. Or you can purchase it pre cooked and shredded. We prefer to do the second option. It saves lots of time and is similar in price to purchasing raw chicken breast.
Just be sure that the shredded chicken you are purchasing is gluten free. If you’re in Canada, the shredded chicken package does not have to have a gluten free claim on it. However, make sure to check the ingredients for any gluten, as well as if there is a contains or may contains statement. This is the brand that we purchase, it doesn’t have a gluten free claim but also doesn’t have any ingredients or statements pertaining to gluten.
What Does Buffalo Chicken Dip Taste Like?
Now that we have the not fun stuff out of the way, let’s talk about what this buffalo chicken dip tastes like. Well, in all honesty I (Karlee) have no idea. I can’t eat spicy foods so I’ve never tried it. However, it looks delicious and everyone in our family is obsessed with it. In fact, we made this dip two weeks ago for this blog post and it has still been requested for Super Bowl this weekend.
The flavour has been described to me as creamy, spicy, cheesy and tangy. It is a classic buffalo flavour but with a cheesy twist. Everyone in our family loves to eat it with Tostitos or corn chips. But it is also great with vegetables, such as carrots and celery. If you’re serving this to friends and family, it is best to put out both options.
If you try out this recipe be sure to let us know. Like I said, it has been a family favourite for many years, so we would love to hear what you think of it. If you’re planning on making it this weekend for the big game, we sure hope you enjoy it. We have many other appetizer and game day recipes on the blog, including Oven Baked Chicken Wings, Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks, Roasted Garlic Hummus and Roasted Rosemary Nuts.
