Pomegrante-Cranberry White Wine Sangria

Pomegranate-Cranberry White Wine Sangria

One holiday down (for us) and another one coming right up. This is one of the busiest times of the year. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or any one of the other religious holidays that take place this time of year. You are sure to be feeling that holiday burn out between now and New Year’s coming up at the end of this week. But we are here to help make your New Year’s plans easier. All week we plan on bringing to you different recipes and ideas that you can easily replicate to ring in the much anticipated New Year. I know that everyone sure is looking forward to 2021 after the year we have all lived through. So we are going to start this week with a lovely Pomegrante-Cranberry White Wine Sangria.

I (Karlee) have never been a huge drinker, and when I do drink I tend to lean towards wine based drinks. Sangria is one of my absolute favourite alcoholic based drinks and it’s so easy to make. This sangria is white wine based since that is our family’s preferred wine. We have also made it lower on the alcohol side. Since we plan on drinking this throughout the night on New Year’s Eve, we don’t want anyone getting drunk and falling asleep before the countdown. If you want to add more alcohol in, that is totally fine and will be just as delicious.

What’s in our White Wine Sangria?

We use pomegranate juice and cranberry juice. I feel like these two balance each other out perfectly. One is a bit more tart than the other. So when paired together they have the perfect tart-sweet balance. The ginger ale is also a bit sweet but adds some nice bubbles in there. The white wine we have used is a Pinot Grigio and is more dry than sweet but not too dry. I always have preferred sweet wine over dry but since we are mixing the wine with juice and ginger ale you don’t want to use very sweet wine. The Pinot Grigio is the perfect pairing.

Lastly, we have added in some frozen cranberries and pomegranate seeds. Neither of these are necessary but it is always nice to have a little something extra so it looks more appealing. You could also add in some orange slices to add a bit of a citrus twist. As well as some added colour.

Whether you are celebrating as one or two at home, or with a small gathering this sangria is great for both occasions. Grab a glass, some ice and fill it up. Then grab some snacks. Check back later this week for a couple of different snacks ideas that you can make at home for a small New Year’s gathering. This year continues to look a lot different than previous years, but we have gotten this far. Let’s finish this year out with a bang and hopefully 2021 will bring you everything you are hoping for.
